Cathodic Arc deposition is mainly used to generate extremely hard coating films to protect the surface of cutting tools and extend the tools life significantly. A wide variey of thin hard films, superhard coatings and nanocomposite coatings can be generated by this technology including: TiN, TiAlN, CrN, ZrN, AlCrTIN and TiAlSiN etc.
On steel, glass and ceramic daily life products like: kitchen ware, bathroom accessories, tableware, ceramic tiles etc. also use the cathodic arc coating technology to get various high shiny colors: blue, black, gold, silver, rose gold colors.
